Damon Grieve, Year 10 and MUFY English Teacher, Melbourne campus
A love of working with young people made Damon Grieve give teaching a go. It’s no surprise that he has loved every minute of it and has no regrets.
“I love the interaction with the students. When you get to the end of a year and you have watched a group of students grow emotionally and mentally over the time you have had with them, it is an amazing buzz”.
Damon has been teaching at Taylors College for over 5 years and is involved in all aspects of college life – from running Year 10 camps and whole school skiing trips to teaching Year 11 Media classes.
“In my Media class we put together a news program and filmed it as if it was going live to air. The students all had roles to play and they were all very involved. It was a great experience and the most fun activity that I have had the pleasure of being involved in during my time here at Taylors.”
Damon is passionate about sports - playing Australian Rules Football on the weekends and when time permits, is involved in the Taylors College sports program. He finds it helps to keep in contact with current and ex-students and is a great way to get to know students outside of the school environment.
And what does he love the most about teaching at Taylors College?
“The students – they are a constant source of inspiration. I believe in the students. If you give them the room to be themselves and give them the opportunity to be an individual and to also get to know you, you cannot go wrong. And that is our job – the nurturing of young people to be the best that they can.”

Every year, Melbourne students excel and achieve fantastic results.
