How to select your subjects

  1. From the table below, choose the stream (area of study) consistent with the course you wish to study at university.
  2. Identify the compulsory core subjects in your chosen area of study.
  3. Choose 1, 2, or 3 subjects from the list of subjects in Group 1. Use the Minimum entry requirements for The University of Sydney undergraduate studies table (PDF 41.5K) to check which electives are recommended for your undergraduate university course.
  4. Choose 1 or 2 subjects from the list of subjects in Group 2. These subjects are available to studentsin all streams.
  5. A total of 5 subjects (or 4 subjects plus 2 minors) must be studied. Each subject is studied for 5 hours per week. A minor is a subject only studied for one semester. Essential Computing Skills is studied for 10 hors and Study Life Skills is taught in a combination of small and large groups. Both are compulsory subjects.

Which intake is right for me?

To be able to choose the right intake, you’ll need to know three things:

  1. The semester in which your preferred University of Sydney undergraduate degree is offered for example March or July. If the degree starts only in March, the best option is to undertake a USFP intake ending in November or December, otherwise you will have a long wait for the start of your degree.
See: Minimum entry requirements for The University of Sydney undergraduate studies table (PDF 41.5K).
  2. What subjects are compulsory for entry to The University of Sydney undergraduate degree that you want to study.
See: Minimum entry requirements for The University of Sydney undergraduate studies table (PDF 41.5K).
  3. Whether you meet the requirements for the Foundation intake.
    See: Foundation Year entry requirements.

Unsure? Follow these step by step guidelines to choose the program that suits your requirements and abilities.

Am I eligible?

To be admitted to Taylors College, you must meet certain English Language and academic requirements.  Generally, you must have achieved satisfactory grades in subjects similar to the ones you want to study at Taylors College.
