You can get to most areas of Auckland using public transport
You can use buses, trains and ferries to travel around Auckland.
The websites listed below will provide you with details about fares and timetables.
Buses
At major stops, bus route and timetable information signs show the numbers, names and descriptions of routes that stop at the stop.
The destination sign above the bus windshield shows the route number and destination. If the bus approaching your stop is the one you want, remain on the curb and indicate to the bus driver, by a clear wave of your arm.
All buses accept cash for payment of fares. Exact change is appreciated but small notes can usually be accepted, and change given. The driver will accept your payment as you board the bus.
If you are planning to travel by bus every day, you should buy a weekly or monthly ticket which is cheaper than buying a ticket for every trip.
Full time high school students can travel on a child fare. You will need to show your Taylors College student ID.
New Zealanders drive on the left side of the road. The speed limit on the open road is 100 km/h (62 mph), and 50 km/h (31 mph) in towns and cities. Drivers and passengers must wear seat belts at all times, in both the front and the back of the vehicle.
If you hold a license to drive a car in your home country and would like to drive in New Zealand, you will need to get an International Drivers License before you arrive.
This will allow you to drive in New Zealand for 12 months.
