Program details

The Taylors College Summer School program is a two week academic preparation course designed to assist you in managing your transition from secondary school to university. You will be introduced to university style teaching methods and encouraged to develop critical ad creative thinking skills through a series of workshops.

You will have an opportunity to visit The University of Western Australia (UWA) and learn more about the variety of degree options as well as the different types of exciting career options available to UWA graudates.

The classes will revolve around three different themes including:

Preparing for University Studies

Writing for University Purposes

Effective Research Skills

UWA Information Sessions

As part of the Summer School, you will be given a taste of university life which will involve a tour of The University of Western Australia and information sessions from different faculties including:


Activities

A variety of excursions and activities where students will experience Australian culture as well as explore some of the delights of Perth, such as Kings Park, the beaches, or some of the great shopping this vibrant city has to offer. They will also have the chance to develop team work skills through carefully designed group challenge activities and the weekend camping trip to outback Western Australia.


Accommodation

Accommodation and 3 meals per day are included as part of the tuition fee. Students will be living at Currie Hall, located on The University of Western Australia’s main campus.

Accommodation at Currie Hall:

Currie Hall is UWA’s own Residential College and is home to around 250 students.

Currie Hall is located on the corner of Winthrop Avenue (the conclusion of Thomas Street) and Mounts Bay Road in Crawley (opposite the main UWA Campus) – about 3 kms from the Claremont campus.

Quality rooms

Rooms are specially reserved for Taylors College students.

The rooms are all single, non ensuite rooms with internet and telephone connections available.

All rooms are serviced once a week.
