University of Sydney Foundation Program (USFP) September/October 2007 Results

Congratulations to all USFP students on their outstanding achievements in the program and excellent results. Students studying in the September/October programs have achieved exceptionally well, as
follows:

The most popular destination was the Faculty of Business and Economics which attracted 43% of the students. There was a significant increase in interest in the B International Studies.

The most outstanding performance in September/October 2007 Program was the DUX, SHIEH, Chun Chien who achieved a GPA of 9.9 and was offered the a place in the B Science (Advanced) program. He has also been invited to participate in the Talented Students Program at the University.

The Higher School Certificate (HSC) 2008 Results

Taylors College Sydney wishes to congratulate the HSC students of 2007 on their excellent results.

Taylors students once again performed exceptionally well in 2007. Five outstanding students were offered a place in combined Law programs and a new strong interest in all combined programs occurred. The HSC was successfully completed by 176 students in 2007, with 19% achieving a UAI rank above 90. This is 3% above the state average.

The HSC Dux was HUANG Ruo Long from China who gained a UAI of 99.25. This remarkable score places her in the top 0.75% of Australian students. Ruo Long also achieved 8th place in the subject, Chinese Background Speakers.

LIM Eveline Khang Yee was awarded 1st place in the state in the subject English as Second Language and AN Su Jee was awarded 1st place in Korean Background Speakers. Taylors College wishes to congratulate both these students for their exceptional performances.

Congratulations to all USFP students on their outstanding achievements in the program and excellent results.

Students studying in the September program have achieved exceptionally well. 79% of the students received offers for bachelor degrees at the University of Sydney with the remainder of students being eligible for places at other universities and diploma pathways.

Business and Economics most popular choices

The Faculty of Business and Economics continues to attract the most students, with 44% of the students offered places. 5 students were offered a place in the Combined Law Programs and 2 students were offered a place in Medical Science as a pathway to the Graduate Medical Program at the University of Sydney. 1 student was offered a place in the competitive Bachelor of Veterinary Science.

The most outstanding performance in September 2006 Program was the DUX, CAHYONO, Gresya from Indonesia who achieved a GPA of 9.8 and was offered a Bachelor of Commerce in the Faculty of Economics and Business.

Scholarships Awarded

CHEW Yilyn from Malaysia was awarded the Sue Harlen Merit Scholarship for the September 2006 cohort for her academic excellence, communication and leadership skills. CHEW Yilyn is planning to study a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Sydney.

The University of Sydney Foundation Program (USFP) January 2006 Results

Students studying in USFP continue the tradition of excellence.

Business and Economics most popular

The Faculty of Business and Economics continues to attract the most students, with 38% of students offered places.

Other highly competitive faculties such as Pharmacy and Architecture, attracted 4% of the students respectively.

One student was offered a place in the Combined Law Program and two students in Medical Science as a pathway to the Graduate Medical Program at the University of Sydney. 

Scholarships awarded

The top student PHUNG, Thi Hoa Dung from Vietnam achieved a GPA of 9.8 and was offered a Bachelor of Pharmacy at the University of Sydney.

Thi Hoa Dung was awarded the prestigious Sue Harlen Merit Scholarship/USFP Board Scholarship.

Students completing the Higher School Certificate (HSC) performed exceptionally well.

Commerce and Business top choices

The University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales were the most preferred universities with more than 50% of students choosing to study Commerce or Business Courses.

Two students were offered places in the very competitive Combined Law Programs at the University of Sydney, and a new strong interest in Architecture Programs occurred. 

Scholarships Awarded

The University of Sydney awarded a Merit Award to DENG Jia Hua to study B Engineering/B Commerce in the Faculty of Engineering and NGUYEN Ngoc Quang was awarded a Merit Scholarship to study a Bachelor of Engineering (Telecommunication).

LEE Hai Fung won the Academic Achievement Award from the University of New South Wales to study a Bachelor of Optometry/Bachelor of Vision Sciences.

Top Students

The DUX of 2006, YANG Yang Yang from the P.R. China achieved a UAI of 99.55 and was offered a place in a Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Laws at the University of Sydney. Yang Yang was also a Top Achiever in the HSC with the 7th highest mark in the state for Chinese background Speakers. She was also a distinguished achiever in 4 of her 6 subjects.

Other outstanding individual performances included - CHEN Lian Hong who achieved 10th highest place in the State in English and LU Jia Ze achieved the 4th highest mark in Chinese for Background Speakers.

Students from the Sept intake acheved exceptional results - 82% of students received offers to study at the University of Sydney. The remaining students were eligible for places at other universities and in diploma pathways.

Business and Economics top choices

The most popular destination was the Faculty of Business and Economics which attracted 42% of the students.

Five students were offered places in Medical Science as a pathway to the Graduate Medical Program at the University of Sydney.

Seventeen students obtained a GPA above 9.0.

The most outstanding performance in the September 2005 USFP was the Dux ZHOU, Meng Yu who achieved a GPA of 9.9 and received a offer to study for Bachelor of Medical Science in the Faculty of Science as a pathway to Graduate Medicine.

Higher School Certificate 2005 Results

In the N.S.W. Higher School Certificate 30 students achieved a University Admissions Index (UAI) of 90 or above.  Student performance generally exceeded the state average - 6.5% of students were in the top 5% of the state and 16.2% were in the top 10%.



Top 20 Performers - HSC 2005

SHAN Lei from China finished as Dux of 2005 with a UAI of 99.80 and has accepted an offer to the University of Melbourne to study a Bachelor Biomedical Science. SHAN Lei was also a Top Achiever in the HSC with the 5th highest mark in the state for Chinese Background Speakers.

Giselle YEO from the Philippines was a Top All Rounder in the HSC achieving an HSC result of over 90 for 6 of her subjects. Giselle achieved a UAI of 99.4 and will be studying for a Bachelor of Science (Molecular Biology and Genetics) at the University of Sydney.

Outstanding results were also achieved by WU Zhe Ru and QIANG Cheng who have been offered places at the University of Sydney for a B. Commerce and the University of New South Wales for a combined degree B Commerce/B Science respectively.
